Abaya Size Guide

Find your perfect abaya fit with our simple UK-friendly size and length guide.

How abaya sizing works

Abayas are chosen using two simple measurements: your body size and your length. Match your bust and waist to our UK-friendly size chart, then choose your length by height so the hem sits just above the floor. Every Zaam abaya is cut with a relaxed, modest silhouette, so you never need to size up for coverage unless you prefer a roomier drape.

Size chart

All measurements are in centimetres. If you sit between two sizes, choose the larger size for a softer, more modest drape.

Length guide by height

Length is the distance from shoulder to hem. The right length keeps your abaya modest, practical and easy to walk in.

Fit types

Different styles drape differently. Understanding the fit helps you choose the right abaya for your shape and the occasion.

Relaxed fit

Generous ease through the bust, waist and hips. Our default fit for everyday comfort and modest coverage.

Flowy fit

Extra volume and soft drape. Ideal for open abayas, butterfly cuts and pieces you want to move beautifully in.

Structured fit

A neater silhouette that still skims without clinging. Great for workwear and polished occasions.

Open abaya fit

Designed to be worn over a slip dress or tunic. More forgiving on the waist and hips, so you can often stay true to size.

Closed abaya fit

Worn as a single layer. Choose by your body size and preferred length for full coverage and a clean line.

Model reference

Our standard model is 5'6" and wears a size M, length 56. She usually wears a UK 10–12. Each product page also lists the exact size and length shown on that style.

How to measure

Use a soft measuring tape, stand naturally and measure over light clothing. Keep the tape level but not tight.

Step 01

Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level and relaxed. Do not pull tight.

Step 02

Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.

Step 03

Hips

Measure around the widest part of your hips and bottom, with feet together.

Step 04

Shoulder

Measure across your upper back from the tip of one shoulder to the other.

Step 05

Sleeve

Start at the shoulder tip and run the tape down to your wrist bone, with your arm slightly bent.

Step 06

Full length

Measure from the top of your shoulder, over the bust, down to where you want the hem to finish.

Size guide questions

Match your bust and waist measurements to our size chart using the UK size equivalent. Our abayas are cut with a relaxed, modest silhouette, so if you sit between two sizes, size up for more coverage and a softer drape. Open and butterfly styles are especially forgiving across sizes.
