Sizing & Fit
Sizing & Fit
Find your perfect length and fit before you order.
Our abayas are cut for a relaxed, modest fit. Measure your bust and waist in centimetres and compare them to the Size Guide. If you sit between two sizes, size up for a softer drape. Open and butterfly abayas are particularly forgiving across sizes.
We recommend 54" for heights up to 5'2", 56" for 5'3"–5'6", 58" for 5'7"–5'9", and 60" for 5'10" and above. The hem should sit just above the floor when worn with everyday footwear.
Yes. Every Zaam abaya is designed with a relaxed, modest silhouette through the bust, waist and hip, with generous sleeves. They are intentionally not body-skimming.
Yes — order the 54" length for a petite fit. It is hemmed for 5'2" and under without needing alteration.
Yes. Our 60" length is cut for heights of 5'10" and above, with proportionally longer sleeves on most styles.
Unless otherwise noted, the model is 5'7" and wears a size Small in length 58". Each product page lists the specific size and length shown.
Fabric & Quality
Fabric & Quality
What our abayas are made of, and how they wear.
Most of our everyday abayas are made from premium Nida. We also use Korean Nida, linen, crepe, satin and soft jersey for specific styles. Each product page lists the exact fabric.
Nida is a soft, matte, polyester-blend fabric that drapes beautifully and holds its shape. It is fully opaque, breathable enough for daily wear, and resists creasing — which is why it is the most popular fabric for abayas worldwide.
Premium Nida is the best all-round choice for everyday wear. It is durable, machine-washable, opaque and comfortable in most UK weather.
Choose linen or lightweight jersey in summer. Both are breathable and cool against the skin. Pale colours like sand, oat and ivory feel especially comfortable in warm weather.
No. Every fabric is hand-selected for opacity. Lighter colours and linen styles are labelled "light opacity" on the product page, in which case we recommend a slip dress underneath.
Most closed abayas can be worn alone. Open abayas, lighter linens and ivory shades are best layered over a slip dress for full coverage and a smooth silhouette.
Nida, crepe and satin pieces resist creasing well — perfect for travel. Linen will crease naturally, which is part of its character; a quick steam refreshes it instantly.
Yes. Our everyday abayas weigh roughly 350–500g depending on fabric. Occasion pieces with beading or embroidery are slightly heavier but still comfortable for a full day.
Style & Occasion
Style & Occasion
Choosing the right abaya for every moment.
A closed Nida abaya in black, taupe or charcoal is the easiest everyday choice — pull on, modest, and works with any hijab. The Everyday Closed Nida and Soft Taupe Closed Abaya are our top sellers for daily wear.
Reach for an embellished or satin piece. Our Golden Hour, Satin Pearl and Midnight Beaded styles are designed for Eid — they photograph beautifully and feel special without being heavy.
Yes. Structured closed abayas in neutral tones — black, navy, taupe — read as professional and polished. Pair with closed-toe shoes and a structured bag for the office.
A lightweight, fully opaque prayer abaya with wide sleeves and a relaxed cut is ideal. Our Pure Modesty and Soft Black Prayer Abayas are made for daily salah and easy to slip on and off.
Choose a plain, light-coloured, breathable abaya without embellishment, with covered sleeves and a length that doesn't drag. Our Lightweight Umrah Prayer Abaya in ivory or sand is specifically cut for the journey.
A slip dress, a long tunic, or a coordinating maxi dress all work. For full coverage, our Black Inner Slip Dress pairs with every open abaya in the range.
Yes. Each product page includes a "Complete the Look" section with hijab colours we've matched to the abaya. Tonal pairings (e.g. mocha-on-mocha) feel especially elevated.

Pockets, belts, sleeves and what's in the box.
No, hijabs are sold separately so you can choose your preferred fabric and shade. The product page lists matching hijabs under "Complete the Look".
Where a belt is shown styled with the abaya, it is included in the same fabric. The "What's Included" section on each product page confirms this for every style.
Selected closed abayas include discreet side pockets. Pocket details are listed in the product specifications.
Sleeve cut varies by style — straight, flared, kimono, butterfly or bishop. Each product page lists the sleeve style under the technical specs.
We photograph in natural light to keep colours true. Screen calibration may cause minor variation; if a piece arrives noticeably different from the image, contact us and we'll resolve it.
Most styles are wearable year-round in the UK. Linen and lightweight jersey pieces are best in spring and summer; satin, crepe and structured Nida transition into autumn and winter.

Care & Aftercare
Care & Aftercare
How to wash, dry, store and protect your abaya.
Yes, most Zaam abayas can be machine washed on a delicate cycle at 30°C with similar colours and a mild detergent. Always hand wash embellished, satin and delicate pieces to protect the finish.
Yes. Embellished and beaded abayas should be hand washed in cool water with a gentle detergent. Turn the garment inside out, avoid rubbing the decorated surface, and dry flat on a clean towel.
Wash black abayas inside out with similar dark colours, use a colour-safe detergent, and avoid bleach. Hang them to dry in the shade away from direct sunlight, which can dull the colour over time.
No. Tumble drying can damage fibres, cause shrinkage and dull the finish. Always hang your abaya to dry in a shaded, well-ventilated space.
A handheld steamer is the safest way to remove creases. If you prefer an iron, use a low heat and press on the reverse side. Never place a hot iron directly over beads, embroidery or satin.
Hang occasion abayas on a padded hanger inside a breathable garment bag. Leave space between pieces so they can breathe, and avoid plastic covers which can trap moisture and flatten embellishment.
